The date of its construction has derived diverse opinions and does not gather consensus, being that some historians refer it as originating from the period of Roman occupation and others originating from the period of Islamic occupation.
Located in a picturesque environment, with a great wealth of landscape, the Ponte de Tôr is formed by five arches, the last one rebuilt in the medieval period, adding to the monument a Portuguese coat of arms.
The bridge has in the center 3.47 meters wide, with the floor of the tarred board, beneath which there is another floor of parallelepipeds, being based on walls of support characteristic of the Roman bridges, although these have a dimension greater than the generality , probably due to the fact that this area is often subject to large floods.
The Roman bridge of Tôr was built on the Roman secondary road that linked Milreu, in Estoi (Faro) to Salir (Loulé). It is now located just south of Tôr Loulé), on the Quarteira river.
The Ponte de Tôr is classified as Property of Municipal Interest.
