Founded in 1640 by the bailiff of Leça, D. Frei Luís Alvares de Távora, in the place where a hermitage existed and venerated Our Lady of Desterro.

On the façade stands out the framing of the entrance door, consisting of two Corinthian columns. On top is the coat of arms of the founder.

Inside, one can admire the true jewel of this Church: the rich and amazing gold carving of the 16th century. XVIII, work of carvers lamecenses and the Tabernacle of the high altar, magnificently carved in wood.

Five national screens of Italian influence currently in the museum belong to the Church.
