Burned in 1809 during the French invasions, the Santa Clara Convent, in Amarante, presents itself today in Ruins, remaining part of the Chapel and the Renaissance Portal of entrance.
It is thought that the convent was built between the sixteenth and eighteenth centuries, housing the Poor Clares that have contributed so much to the success of the typical sweets from Amarante to the present day.
Classified as Property of Public Interest.
