Tourism
Cannes is known as the Hollywood of the French Riviera, famous for its film festival, which takes place annually in May, being the best beach town in the Côte d'Azur region, a place to be visited in the summer.
Looking for the waters of the Mediterranean Sea, the wealthy class gives life to the city by parading its luxurious cars, dining in the excellent restaurants and, mainly, stretched out in the sun on the wonderful beaches.
The place where everything happens is La Croisette. On one side of the street, the five-star hotels on the other, the beaches, whether private (hotels) or public are crowded.
However the best beaches are in the south of Sainte-Marguerite.
Quieter option is to take a one or two day trip to Iles de Lerins, a small archipelago 15 or 30 minutes from Cannes. Sainte-Marguerite and Saint-Honorat are the largest islands and have good infrastructure of restaurants, nightclubs and cafes. Be sure to take advantage of local artisan liquor.
Another interesting tour is to visit the region of Vieux Port and Le Suquet, the most authentic regions of the city, where modernity and past mix. In the old port area you can watch old fishing boats next to luxury yachts. Already Le Suquet has narrow streets where centuries of history mix with recent constructions. Highlights for a 17th century castle that became the Musée de la Castre museum and the Church of Notre Dame d'Esperance dating back to the 17th century.
Although to watch movies during the famous Festival of Cannes is only for guests, but one can know the luxury of the cinemas of one of the world centers of the film industry. Two movie theaters are worth a visit: Cinefil Cinema Arces, with more artistic programming, and Cinema Olympia, more suitable for lovers of mega-productions in Hollywood.
Casinos also have a highlight for the visitor. Highlight for the Croisette, which is inside the hotel Lucien Barrière, near the Palais des Festivals, where the film festival final takes place. Already for high-luxury shopping, the tip is to take advantage, in addition to the main street Croisette, Rue d'Antibes.

Gastronomy
Cannes, famous for its cuisine, which will surely satisfy the most demanding gourmets. Dozens of restaurants and cafes offering cuisine to suit all tastes: from Provençal to more refined typical cuisine, traditional dishes such as bouillabaisse, ratatouille and aioli sauce. And, of course, many fish dishes.
The most famous restaurants are located on the seafront (Rue Saint-Pierre) and Rue Félix Faure.
The palate will thank you when anticipated for market purchases in the district of Le Suquet, the Marché Forville and its fine products of the earth: red tomatoes, olives, lemon, rosemary, thyme and local cheeses.
A gastronomic trip to Cannes is in itself a journey not to be missed. Not only traditional Provencal or French, but also Italian, Creole, Armenian, Greek or Mexican. The restaurants of the city can be found everywhere, choose those along the waterfront, although prices may be a bit excessive in relation to the dishes served, or if you prefer to visit those of the rue Meynadier in the beautiful neighborhood of Le Suquet: the view from the town and sea side of the neighborhood is wonderful and the prices much more reasonable.
