Sorrento was the site of the first official European settlement of Victoria which was established by Lieutenant Colonel David Collins in 1803. There are two main lookout points accessed by these trails - the Coppins Lookout, which offers views of the ocean beach and the sea, while the Websters Lookout overlooks the residential areas of Sorrento and Port Phillip in the distance. It looks and leads to rocky ocean shelves and stretches of sandy beach.

Another scenic area to explore along the ocean coast is Diamond Bay. It is protected by the Mornington Peninsula National Park, where there are several hiking trails and stairs that give access to the beach below.
