The district of Pampamarca has 1,889 inhabitants. Its capital is the town of Mungui, it received that title in 1907 by Law No. 599 (see the text at the end). Mungui is located at 3,140 meters above sea level and 2:30 hours from Cotahuasi, through an unpaved road. Cerro Hito is the town's Apu.



The town of Pampamarca stands out for its unique beauty, nestled in one of the canyon walls as if it were a natural balcony. The famous alpaca rugs are woven there by hand, one of which has plastered one of the main rooms of the government palace since 1924.







Huito stone forest.-



It is located 2 hours walk from the town of Pampamarca, at an altitude of 3800 meters above sea level. It is made up of rocks that the wind, the sun and the rain have eroded, giving them curious shapes. This site is also an excellent viewpoint that gives us a complete view of the town of Pampamarca, of the confluence of the Cotahuasi river and the Pampamarca river; as well as the snowy Solimana and Firura.







Chullpas.-



Pre-Inca funeral towers, possibly from the Huari culture, located in Cerro Huito, on the way to the Piedras forest. These remains are in a state of abandonment. This archaeological zone has an extension greater than 1/2 Ha.







Uskune waterfall.-



This waterfall is located at 3,200 meters above sea level. It is 90 m. fall. It can be observed from the viewpoint located at the exit of the town of Pampamarca. View photo







Tecca Annex.-



Located three hours walk from Pampamarca. At an altitude of 3,900 m.s.n.m. It is a traditional high-altitude town: adobe houses with ichu roofs. There are several small waterfalls in the surroundings.







Ccosla Hot Springs.-



They are hot springs with a temperature of around 38º C. It is located on the banks of the Pampamarca river, at an altitude of 3,200 meters above sea level and 40 minutes on foot down from Pampamarca.
