Its origins date back to the 19th century. XII, time in which the Monastery of Alcobaça acquires properties in Kos. It would be by the hand of the Abbot of Alcobaça, D. Fernando, that the initial convent would be built, destined to accommodate the widows who wanted to lead a religious life.
The church has been classified as a Property of Public Interest since 1946.
