Braga
Braga is a Portuguese city, founded by the Romans as Bracara Augusta, with more than 2,000 years of history in constant development, growth and expansion. Located in the north of Portugal, it is considered the third Portuguese city and is the seat of a municipality, being the center of the old region named Minho, with more than one million inhabitants.

Tourism
In the heart of the green Minho region, Braga is one of the largest religious centers in Portugal and, as such, is full of secular churches, such as Santa Cruz and Cathedral. On the top of a hill, the Sanctuary of Bom Jesus emerges as an important point of pilgrimage. Behind Mount Sameiro, a colossal statue of Our Lady blesses the region. Gardens, parks and solariums of the 18th century complete the scenery, which gains a unique flavor in specialized kitchens in traditional duck and cod rice to the minhota. Braga is the oldest city in Portugal. It has more than 2,000 years of history, since it was founded by Romans with the name of Bracara Augusta, between 300 and 400 BC, and became the capital of the empire in northern Iberia. The ruins of this golden phase still exist in the archaeological complex. But the Bracarenses do not live only from the past. Quite the opposite: its universities, contemporary restaurants, student parties and lively bars surround the streets in such a jovial aura.
Gastronomy
From the gastronomic variety of the Braga district, typical dishes are well known throughout the country.
In the soups, stand out the dry soup, the flour soup of Barcelos and the green broth.
In fish, the main dish is cod, which can be cooked in different ways in different municipalities, such as fried fish, codfish with Narcissa, cod lagareiro, cod with Zé do Telhado among others; other typical dishes of the region.
Also characteristic of this district are the corn bread and the crushed potato.

Weather
The climate of Braga, because it lies between mountains and the Atlantic Ocean, is typically temperate atlantic, that is, with four well-defined seasons. Winters are quite pluvial and cold, and generally with moderate Southwest winds. The wind can also blow from the North, usually strong, which generally causes a great decrease of the temperature, these winds are designated as Nortadas. In very cold years snowfall can occur, however due to global warming the snowfall is a very rare occurrence. Springs are typically cool, with large openings and gentle winds. Morning breezes occur more frequently, especially at higher altitudes. In the valley of Cávado, at low altitude, it is normal to have morning fog. Of note is the month of May, which is quite favorable to thunderstorms, due to the warming of the humid air with the arrival of summer. The summers are warm and sunny with gentle winds of east. In the cooler days, spontaneous rainfall can occur spontaneously, these rains are very important for the vegetation of the region, because it replenishes the sheets of water which makes the region rich in vegetation during the whole year, by which it is known as Verde Minho . Autumns are mild and pluvial, usually with moderate winds. As the temperature drops, rainfall increases. There is a greater frequency of fog, mainly in the valley of the Cávado where the fogs dense more dense.
